Kevin Clarke, Certified SCMP and 25 Year Member

“My career in supply chain started in 1981 while working for an
engineering company that sold industrial pumps. The company was a
distributor for 15-20 different product lines with my role involving
inside sales and buying. I enrolled in the PMAC program in order to
gain a better understanding of supply chain practices. I received my
CSCMP designation (formerly C.P.P.) in 1990. Having learned a great
deal about the different processes and areas within supply chain, I
was able to immediately apply this knowledge to my work. This
designation was valued by my employers and acted as a mark of
distinction amongst my peers.
The next stage of my career began with the Coca Cola Bottling
Company in 1983. As a member of a 20 person procurement department,
there was much potential for advancement opportunities. My career path
has taken me through several sectors including; Consumer Package
Goods, Pharmaceutical and Government. I have since returned to the
Coca Cola Refreshments Co. as the Manager of Indirect Spend,
overseeing seven production facilities and sixty sales and distribution
centres across Canada. Although my entire career has been in the
procurement discipline, of supply chain, one must remember that there
are many disciplines to pursue within this field.
Having worked in the field of procurement for 30 years, I still
continue to enjoy my career due to the variety of work and everyday
challenges provided. I truly believe that my designation has been a
key factor in the success of my career. Earning my designation has
presented me with numerous opportunities and opened many doors. I
would encourage anyone working in the field of Supply Chain to pursue
there CSCMP designation.
Ultimately, the addition of the CSCMP designation to your
educational background and work experience will be a key factor to
your success."
