Why should I become a Certified SCMP?
The Certified SCMP designation is the most sought-after achievement in supply chain management (SCM) in Canada, setting the national standard for excellence in the profession. Certified SCMPs earn more, are sought after by employers and are respected as strategic thinkers and decision makers.
Do I have to be an OIPMAC member to enrol in the SSCMLP?
Yes, once you have been accepted into the program you must obtain Accreditation Candidate membership. Accreditation Candidates receive a reduced rate of $175 per year for the three years they are actively pursuing their designation.
What is the cost of the Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program (SSCMLP)?
The SSCMLP will cost approximately $17,000 over three years. Each component of the program will be paid for when it is taken. You do not have to pay the full cost of the program upfront.
How long will it take me to complete the SSCMLP?
The length of the program will be 36 months (two semesters per year). An extension of up to 12 months will be available to those requiring additional time to complete the program for personal or employment reasons.

What prerequisites do I need to get into the SSCMLP?
Interested applicants must possess an undergraduate degree, business diploma or Post-secondary courses in Economics, Introduction to Business, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business Communications and Organizational Behaviour from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Additionally, those who have completed all the requirements of the Diploma or ABMP program will qualify for admission. For more information please click here.
How do I register for the SSCMLP?
Please complete the Application of Admission and fax (416-977-4135) or mail it to the Ontario Institute of the PMAC, 1 Dundas Street W., Suite 2704, P.O. Box 64, Toronto, Ontario M5G 1Z3, along with all supporting documentation. If you have a degree from outside Canada you will need your credentials assessed and deemed equivalent to a Canadian Accredited College or University education program. The Ontario Institute will review your application and a confirmation will be emailed to you when you have been accepted into the program. Upon receiving your confirmation of acceptance, please register for the class at the college of your choosing or through the Ontario Institute for distance learning.
Who qualifies to apply for advance standing in SSCMLP?
To qualify for advance standing in the SSCMLP, the individual academic background of the prospective or current program participants’ will be looked at to ensure it is directly related to extended supply chain management (SCM), and to determine if the individual courses in the SCM knowledge areas would be equivalent to the following modules within the SSCMLP:
- Supply Chain Management
- Logistics and Transportation
- Operations and Process Management
- Knowledge Management
Also, prospective candidates with Graduate Degrees only may apply for advanced standing in selected interactive workshops.
Where is the SSCMLP offered?
The SSCMLP is offered in class at Humber, Seneca, Conestoga and Fanshawe colleges. Alternatively, you can take the modules through distance learning through the OIPMAC office.
Can I complete the entire SSCMLP through distance learning?
No, the modules can be done through independent study outside of the classroom, but participants are required to attend the Interactive Workshops in person.
Can I leave the SSCMLP and come back at a later date?
Only under certain circumstances may you leave the SSCMLP and return at a later date. These circumstances include employment, maternity/parental or compassionate grounds. Candidates who need to leave the Program are required to provide OIPMAC with verifiable details and/or supporting documentation. Absences should not be greater than a 12-month period. An application for re-entry is required by the candidate prior to the commencement of a given module.

If I have to relocate to another province from Ontario will my current status be recognized?
Yes, candidates who relocate from one province to another will have their current status recognized.
Does OIPMAC offer online seminars/courses?
As of January 2010, all of the technical courses in the Certificate in Supply Management will be available online through Humber College. At this time, we do not offer any of our certificate-seminars online or through webinars. This is something we are currently exploring for future offerings.
The Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program (SSCMLP) is not offered online, but does have a self study option for the modules. Interactive Workshops must be attended in person.

Can I still use the C.P.P. designation?
OIPMAC certified Members continue to have the right to use the C.P.P. designation, in addition to the new Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (Certified SCMP) designation. However, if you are a C.P.P., we encourage you to use the new designation title and trade-mark as appropriate in your business communications (business cards, letters, promotional lierature, email signatures, etc.).
Do I have to be an OIPMAC member to become certified?
OIPMAC’s annual regular membership is mandatory for all Certified SCMP and SSCMLP program participants.
What is the Certified SCMP maintenance period?
The credential-holder’s first or initial maintenance of certification period, "the maintenance period", is counted from the 1st of January immediately following the successful completion of the final Certified SCMP examination process and the granting of the designation. Each maintenance period consists of three successive calendar years, beginning January 1 of year-I and ending December 31 of year-III, and so on.
What do I need to maintain my Certified SCMP designation?
Once the professional credential (Certified SCMP) has been granted, the designation-holder is required to maintain certification every three years. You can accomplish this by earning 30 Certified SCMP maintenance credits and maintaining good membership standing during the current certification period. At least two-thirds, or 20 maintenance credits, must be earned through participation in educational or professional development activities while up to one-third, or 10 credits, may be earned in the professional service category.
Are member events eligible for Certified SCMP maintenance points?
OIPMAC Certified Supply Chain Management Professionals (Certified SCMPs) earn maintenance credits by attending events offered under the Professional Development category. Credit points offered will be determined by the Maintenance of Certification Program criteria in effect at the time of the event.
How do I apply for an extension to my maintenance period?
If a Certified SCMP maintenance program participant cannot obtain 30 maintenance credits within three years of his/her maintenance period, he/she should apply for an extension. To apply for an extension, complete Section B of the Maintenance of Certification Program Application and submit by email to Marie Scarfo, Co-ordinator, Admissions and Credentialing Services, mscarfo@oipmac.ca before the maintenance period deadline.
