Advanced Standing in PMAC Accreditation offered to Ryerson MBA Students
The Ontario Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (OIPMAC) and the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University announced that advanced standing will be granted to Ryerson MBA supply chain management graduates in the national accreditation program leading to the Purchasing Management Association of Canada’s (PMAC’s) professional designation in supply chain management.
The Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University and its technology-based MBA program is the first academic institution and program to receive advanced standing toward the national designation. Ryerson’s MBA supply chain management graduates will receive credit for their MBA course work, but are required to meet other PMAC accreditation criteria. These include successful completion of selected interactive workshops in PMAC’s Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program, passing PMAC’s National Written Examination, and, if not already gained, three years of practical supply chain experience. “Our objective is to help graduates of Ryerson’s MBA program with a specialization in supply chain management build successful careers by applying the professional knowledge, experience and employer recognition they will gain through our accreditation program,” said R. David Fletcher, President and CEO of the Ontario Institute of the PMAC.
The Ryerson MBA in the Management of Technology and Innovation is Toronto's only MBA designed to meet the need for professionals with both technology and management skills. The curriculum, designed for the real world, is coursework-based and develops the student's proficiency in applying the principles of technology and innovation management to practical problems and cases. The small-class learning environment cultivates problem-solving, critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills. Graduates have the skills to analyze technology requirements and manage innovation in a variety of contexts.
“Ryerson is known for our relevant curriculum and industry-connected faculty that allow our MBA graduates to add immediate value to employers in the workforce,” said Wendy Cukier, Associate Dean, Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University. “The PMAC designation is one more advantage that our graduates will bring to their careers.”
PMAC’s Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program (SSCMLP), which is the professional development component of the accreditation process leading to its professional designation, offers a graduate level competency-based curriculum, balanced to deliver advanced supply chain management knowledge and high level business skills. The curriculum of Ryerson’s technology-based MBA program with a specialization in supply chain management fulfills the learning outcomes of PMAC’s SSCMLP.
“As a graduate of the Ryerson MBA program and a supply chain professional with more than ten years of industry experience, I plan to enrol in PMAC’s Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program to take my supply chain and business skills to the next level and am pleased to do so with advanced standing. I strongly encourage my fellow supply chain professionals to do the same,” said Usamah Mughal, Senior Manager of Supply Chain at Loblaws, who obtained his MBA with a specialization in supply chain management from Ryerson in 2008.
As the most sought-after credential in supply chain management in Canada, PMAC’s internationally recognized designation signals that its holder has attained the highest level of professional competence and is committed to lifelong learning.
“At Michael Page, we have found that many of our clients look to recruit candidates who have been accredited by PMAC to fill positions in supply chain management, and our experience tells us that they would look at a graduate of Ryerson’s MBA program with a specialty in SCM who had achieved the PMAC designation as being an asset to their team,” says Jennifer Morrison, Michael Page International. “We look forward to the first Ryerson MBA graduates with the PMAC designation entering the workforce.”
