Election to Fill an Elected Director Position on the PMAC National Board
January 31, 2011
To OIPMAC Members and Associates
Dear Colleague:
Tomorrow you will be receiving a notice from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) calling for an Expression of Interest to serve in the role of Elected Director on the PMAC National Board of Directors. There will be one Elected Director position to be filled this year. This position is one of two that are elected from the general membership across the country for a 3-year term. The election of the individual to fill this position will take place at the PMAC Annual General Meeting, in Whistler, B.C. on June 8, 2011.
AN OPPORTUNITY TO GOVERN OUR PROFESSION EFFECTIVELY AND ENSURE STRONG REPRESENTATION FROM ONTARIO
Under PMAC’s existing Board structure, each of the 10 provincial and territorial Institutes appoints an individual to serve as their representative. The balance of the PMAC Board is made up of three appointed Directors (appointed by the PMAC Board itself) and two Elected Directors elected from the PMAC membership at large. Each Director on the PMAC Board carries one vote.
With Ontario being home to approximately 40% of the members of PMAC, your Provincial Institute has tried to encourage strong candidates from Ontario to stand for the Elected Director positions on the PMAC National Board. OIPMAC has traditionally endorsed one strong nominee from Ontario to run for election to the PMAC National Board when Elected Director positions become available.
During the next few weeks, OIPMAC’s Nominations Committee will be reviewing the qualifications of several potential candidates, including their expertise in the SCM field, their knowledge of the challenges facing the profession, and their governance experience. In this way, we will be able to identify and endorse a strong candidate from Ontario for election to the PMAC Board.
By mid-February 2011 we will provide you with the name of the individual that OIPMAC will be endorsing for election to the PMAC National Board in June of this year.
Thank you for your continuing support of OIPMAC and the supply chain management profession.
Yours truly,
Don Harvey, CSCMP
Chair, OIPMAC Board of Directors
