My journey started when I first moved to Canada from the U.S.A. to be with my family. I obtained my B.Sc. in Aeronautical Technical Engineering, while working full time in purchasing at a hospital in New York City.
Looking for work in Toronto proved to be quite a challenge, as I first tried to pursue a career in the aeronautical area. After contacting the Canadian Government, I was advised that in order for me to even think about working in the aeronautical industry, I would need five thousand hours of practical time in the aircraft industry. As I have a young family, the idea of having to start from the beginning was not appealing to me which led me to seriously think about pursuing a career in purchasing. This is how I found myself on the doorstep of the Ontario Institute of PMAC.
The C.P.P. program is a three year program in strategic supply chain management that many companies are now beginning to take notice of. As one of the first cohorts in the new program, the course has not only given me applied knowledge I can use, but has also opened career doors that were once closed. I have since landed a job in supply chain for one of the largest engineering and facility management firms in Canada. Making the decision to take this program has truly been both beneficial and rewarding.
